Accreditation

A foreign principal/employer must undergo a process of accreditation through a licensed staffing agency and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the central governing body for overseas workers in the Philippines. This is a very crucial step in order for a foreign employer/principal to be legally authorized to recruit Filipino workers.

After choosing a Philippine staffing agency as a partner, the foreign employer/principal must submit documents or credentials to the nearest Philippine Embassy, Consulate, or POEA accreditation branch for authentication and accreditation. This process ascertains the existence of the company or project and manpower requirements. (Let us know if you need assistance finding the accreditation location nearest you.)

The following documents must be notarized, verified, and authenticated at the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate:

  • Special Power of Attorney
  • Manpower Request
  • Standard Employment Contract

Once approved, the POEA issues an accreditation certificate to the local agent/partner authorizing it to advertise, recruit and deploy Filipino workers on behalf of its accredited foreign employer/principal. In certain countries, authentication and verification of documents are needed for the accreditation of a foreign employer/principal or project.

The Philippine Labor Attaché, appropriate official of the Philippine Embassy, or authorized Philippine foreign representative in the absence of a Philippine mission verifies the documents at the jobsite. Authentication of documents at the site of employment may be undertaken by the appropriate official of any of the designated Ministries/Offices of host countries.
